Gravel

What is a gravel bike?

These bicycles are similar in appearance to road bikes, but differ in frame geometry and purpose. They are designed for use on roads, gravel roads and light forest paths. Gravel bikes are popular because they are the perfect vehicle when your goal is to travel and cycle touring, because a gravel bike can be used on mixed surfaces and is a relatively fast bike, and thanks to the horn-shaped handlebar, which helps to keep the bike in an aerodynamic position, it is very easy to pedal. Nowadays, quality gravel bikes are divided into two main sub-categories - gravel bikes that are used for sport and mainly on hard surfaces, and gravel bikes that are mainly used on gravel roads and forest trails.
Gravel bike manufacturers prepare these bikes with all sorts of mounting points for easy attachment of bike panniers and other bike accessories - bike pump, bike rack, bike lights. Each gravel bike has 28" wheels, and the more expensive gravel bikes have carbon wheels.

Sport gravel bikes

This type of gravel bike is for people who want a bike that can be used on the road and gravel. They are fast compared to an XC mountain bike but slower compared to any road bike. Geometrically, they are similar to endurance-type road bikes, but with a slightly longer wheelbase and possibly wider handlebars.
The more aggressive gravel bikes are designed for more serious forest trails, but can also be used on light MTB trails. Gravel tyres are wider and the tread is more aggressive. Geometrically, they are longer and the handlebars are much wider. Most of these gravel bikes have a large number of attachment points so that the pannier can easily find a place on the bike and is perfect for touring. These bikes are best suited for people who want to ride forest trails faster than XC mountain bikes and cover long distances, cycling to further afield. The only disadvantage of an aggressive gravel bike is that it is slower than all road and sport gravel bikes in road conditions, but a carbon frame would make it faster.
